What is
the price of the GloMax®-96 Microplate Luminometer?
The price may vary based on your application(s) and requirements. To receive
a quote customized to your needs, use our online quotation form (click
here).
What is
the detection system of the GloMax®-96 Microplate Luminometer?
The GloMax®-96 has a photomultiplier tube (PMT) detector. Because of its
proprietary design, this detector offers both superior sensitivity and
dynamic range.
How many
injectors can be installed in the GloMax®-96 Microplate Luminometer?
There are total of two (single or dual) optional injectors that can be installed on the
GloMax®-96 Microplate Luminometer.
What are
the advantages of internal automatic injectors versus external automatic
injectors?
The GloMax®-96 internal automatic injectors permit dark-adaptation
of the injectable reagents. The reagent supply remains in a protected,
dark space inside the GloMax®-96 during the experiment. Because many
reagents are light sensitive, equilibrating the reagents to dark conditions
allows for maximum reproducibility. Other microplate luminometers rely
on external automatic injectors, which draw reagents from a supply outside
of the luminometer and do not protect reagents from the influence of ambient
light. Internal injectors also shorten the supply line length and reduce
dead volume.
What kind
of microplates can the GloMax®-96 Microplate Luminometer read?
The GloMax®-96 can read any opaque white or black 96-well plates. It
can also read opaque wall clear bottom plates when used with a bottom
plate sealer (P/N 6570 Costar). If your research requires a microplate luminometer that reads 6, 12, 24, 48, 96, and 384-well plates, we recommend the GloMax-Multi+ Microplate Multimode Reader.
Is there
a recommended brand of 96-well plates that I should use?
Our tests show the best sensitivity is achieved using Greiner solid white
assay plates, 96-well medium binding, Lumitrac 200. These plates can be
purchased through E&K Scientific (Cat # EK25075) in cases of 40 plates.
What operating
software does GloMax®-96 come with?
The GloMax®-96 has a PC based Direct-to-Excel software. The software
operates the instrument and reports the data directly to an Excel spreadsheet.
What operating
systems are compatible with the GloMax®-96 software?
The GloMax®-96 software is compatible with Microsoft Windows® 95
or Windows® XP.
Can I
do kinetic measurements?
Yes, the current version of the software supports kinetic measurement.
Is the
software compatible with Macintosh® operating systems?
No, it is not compatible with Macintosh operating systems.
What applications
can I use this instrument for?
You can run all bio- and chemiluminescent, flash and glow type of applications
on the GloMax®-96. The primary applications are: Reporter gene assays,
ATP assays, Immunoassays, Cytotoxicity, Cell proliferation, Nucleic acid
quantitation, Enzyme assays, Intracellular Ca2+
Can I
use the GloMax®-96 for flash reactions?
Yes, you can run flash reactions if the GloMax®-96 has injector(s)
installed.
What is
the sensitivity of the GloMax®-96 Microplate Luminometer?
The GloMax®-96 has a detection limit of 3 x 10-21 moles of luciferase using
Promega's luciferase assay reagent.
How does
the sensitivity of the GloMax®-96 compare to other luminometers?
The sensitivity of the GloMax®-96 is 10 times higher than the leading
competitor's instrument. The GloMax®-96 is also comparable in sensitivity
to the GloMax®-20/20 Single Tube Luminometer.
What is
the dynamic range of the GloMax®-96?
The GloMax®-96 has over 9 logs of dynamic range.
How does
the dynamic range of the GloMax®-96 compare to other instruments?
Other instruments on the market usually have dynamic range of 6 logs.
What is
the injection volume and precision of the GloMax®-96?
The injection volume is selectable between 25 and 250 µL (±1
µL); CV% <1%
What is
the crosstalk of the GloMax®-96?
The crosstalk of the GloMax®-96 is less than 3 x 10-5 with a white 96-well
plate. When using a black plate the crosstalk is less than 3 x 10-7.
Do I need
to change anything for power requirements in different countries?
No, the GloMax®-96 has an internal universal power supply. Simply use
the proper AC adapter.
What is
the Microplate Luminometer Light Plate?
The Luminometer Light Plate is designed to provide a quick and easy way to verify
the performance of the GloMax®-96. It allows the user to check the
reproducibility, sensitivity, and linearity of the luminometer in less than
1 minute. The light plate consists of three highly stable light sources
that simulate luminescence samples at signal levels spreading over four
decades. It can be used for both short and long term stability studies
of the detection system.
What software
do I need on my PC?
The GloMax®-96 software is provided on a CD and is easy to install.
You only need to have an available serial port to connect to the GloMax®-96.
You must have MS Excel installed on your computer.
Does the
instrument attach to a printer?
No, the printer does not directly connect to the GloMax®-96. Instead,
the printer attaches to the PC that is connected to the GloMax®-96.
Does the
GloMax®-96 software work with older versions of Windows® software?
We were able to test the GloMax®-96 software on Windows® 95. The
GloMax®-96 software was successful in translating to MS Excel.
